In the United States, 80% of adults currently don't meet the guidelines for either muscle strengthening or aerobic activities. Many people aren't aware of how to exercise effectively and it can be both limiting and dangerous if they attempt improper methods.
If you are looking to learn how you can improve your arm workouts, here is what you need to know.
Chin-ups can be one of the best workouts for building arm muscle, as it challenges you to lift your own body weight. This exercise can help to strengthen your biceps and your latissimus dorsi muscles. However, it can also help work your entire upper body and build strength in both your back and chest.
2. Diamond Pushups
Most people are familiar with traditional pushups, but diamond pushups can help build your arm strength even more by working your arms, triceps, and chest. For this exercise, get on your hands and knees and place your hands in a diamond position in front of you. Lift your legs as you would for a usual pushup and then bend your elbows while keeping your body as straight as possible. Lower yourself to the floor and slowly lift yourself back up. Repeat this 10 times, taking a break in between reps.
3. The Standing Dumbbell Fly
For this exercise, stand straight with a dumbbell in each hand and your palms facing each other. Lean forward and keep your back as straight as possible and slightly bend your elbows. In this position, lift the dumbbells perpendicular to your body and hold for a breath before slowly lowering them back down. Take care not to lift your arms higher than your shoulders, as this can cause injury. This exercise can help build strength in the triceps and in the chest.
Building Lasting Muscle
These are three of many fantastic exercises to help you build lasting arm strength and take your usual arm workouts to the next level. If you don't have access to dumbbells or lifting equipment at home, consider signing up with a local gym so that you can make use of the equipment that they have. You can also take advantage of any training courses or group classes they may have.
With all of this in mind, you can start making lasting gains that you can feel proud of. Get started today at Texas Family Fitness.
